FERCAM is an excellent example of Italian entrepreneurship, a logistics company that grew over the decades to become a key player at the European level.

The IT is the heart of the Company, a huge department of 34 people, different in seniority, background, skills, roles, and responsibilities. His leader, @Cristian Oppici, wanted to strengthen integration across the team, foster collaboration, and create a more cohesive and productive work environment.

But the BEAST, was inside the department, subtle, deeply embedded, and challenging to define.

🔎 The BEAST is unpredictable. It lurks within organizations, draining resources and creating uncertainty (read more in the blog).

To tackle it, the company embarked on an intensive strategic journey: a series of four LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® business strategy workshops, with the first session dedicated to identifying and understanding “The BEAST”—the elusive, multi-layered challenge affecting multiple functions across the department.

Workshop Highlights

🔹 Shaping the BEAST. Using three-dimensional LEGO® models and powerful metaphors helped participants visualize and externalize the BEAST, transforming individual perceptions into a shared understanding.
🔹 Mapping the System. Teams identified the elements surrounding and influencing the BEAST, uncovering hidden interconnections and dependencies.
🔹 Testing Solutions in Real-Time. Participants developed potential strategic decisions and simulated their impact, assessing not only feasibility but also the rationale behind each decision.

At the end of the workshop, the department director summed up the experience in a single, powerful phrase: “Yes, it’s possible.”

By moving beyond theoretical discussions and immersing participants in hands-on strategic exploration, the workshop allowed them to break down complexity, gain confidence, and move toward solutions grounded in collective intelligence.
